Room review: Phantom Joker: Mysterious Lab Lost in Time

This review is left here merely as a record.

Their description:

A dubious star company
Housing a mysterious lab
Where time travels beyond human knowledge
Hideous dangers
Emerging from an inconsistent dilemma
What should I do
Am I coming back in one piece …

Possibly the most tightly-structured escape room in Singapore, and with clues that are clear without being too obvious. Paying attention to the storyline is also very rewarding — in fact, if you do so, you’ll even know exactly how many puzzles you have to solve.

And what great puzzles they are! There are more multimedia aspects in this one room than most other escape companies have in all their rooms put together. All of them are logical, and actually fun to execute.

Minor quibbles: there’s a bit of an unnecessary physical aspect midway (though it can be easily ignored), and the endgame is unfortunately prone to technical malfunction.

If you ever feel jaded after playing too many escape rooms full of boring code-locks, then try this one and be refreshed.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for beginners and experienced players alike.

Puzzle difficulty: 3/5
Puzzle logic: 5/5
Multimedia aspect of puzzles: 5/5

Atmosphere and setting: 4.5/5
Exciting flourishes, use of technology or physical aspects: 4/5
Storyline integration: 5/5

Their suggested number of players: N/A
My suggested number of players: 3 to 4
